Claranet’s Business Broadband DSL services enable high-speed data connectivity for either public Internet access or Virtual Private Network (VPN) access. Claranet can offer you ADSL and SDSL services depending on the requirements of your business.
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) services bring high bandwidth data to home users and small businesses over an ordinary telephone line. The services is called “asymmetric” because its two way bandwidth speed is predominantly devoted to the downstream direction – the downloading of data by the end user (you), with only a small portion of bandwidth available for upstreaming data – uploading data.
ADSL is ideal if you need to download large amounts of data such as video, audio or large images. The service also reserves some downstream bandwidth for voice calls.

* Data Throughput= The maximum speed at which data can be transmitted
Priority Level = The potential maximum user demand to bandwidth. The more users accessing the actual bandwidth at any one time, the slower the bandwidth speed you may experience. 5 = highest 1= lowest
Synchronous Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) services provide symmetric/equal downstream and upstream bandwidth to users. If you frequently require high upstream bandwidth then SDSL is the ideal option for your business as you can benefit from uploading and downloading large files at an equal speed.
Unlike ADSL, SDSL services are not carried over an ordinary telephone line and are dedicated to transferring data. There are only a small number of SDSL-enabled exchanges and these mainly reside in major metropolitan areas. Please note that you will therefore need to be within a certain distance from the service exchange to receive SDSL services.
